Illinois Hearing: About Us
Illinois Hearing provides helpful information about hearing loss, including hearing aids, cochlear implants, tinnitus, hearing professionals, and other hearing concerns.
One of my sons has worn hearing aids since age 3. No one believed that he had hearing loss until the audiologist's tests told us so. With hearing aids and years of speech therapy and other help along the way from loving, caring professionals, my son has successfully participated in the hearing world. During these years, I've seen that where at first it was unusual to see anyone else with hearing aids, other than the occassional senior, now everywhere we go we see people with hearing aids as a regular event. Yet studies show that many people who have hearing loss never seek help or get hearing aids that could benefit them. I hope that this site can help others who are facing hearing loss or deafness for themselves, or experiencing it with a family member.
